I need some crafts for my kids for Christmas something cheap but fun for them

Paint small styrafoam balls (used school projects) from a hobby store and with some tempura paints. Let them paint the balls, with hands or brush and decorate with glitter while paint is wet. Then get a needle and thread. Thread the needle and one by one drive the needle through the center of ball to make a string of all the balls and decorate on tree or wherever you want to put it.

Cut snowflakes from thick cardstock paper and glitter them. Get an cloth stocking from a craft store ($3.00 ea or so) and markers, fast dry glue, puff balls, and stickers for them to decorate their own stockings. (for 4 kids it will cost about $30-$40.

Buy construction paper and fold 7 pieces in half. Staple or glue the stack so you have a 14 page book. Cover page they can put pictures of Christmas things like lights, trees, santa, elves, presents, or snow. Whatever! The back of first page is for you to put ‘by: joe (kids name) and date done. The next page is 1 (including front and back of cover page it is technically 3), the back of 1 is page 2, and so on till the end at page 12 with . (12 half pages inside covered by outside paper 7th outside page).

The 13th page (inside of last page) will say ‘The End’ or ‘Merry Christmas and have a hand print of kiss mark or picture of kid. The very back outside cover will be for coloring or a Santa list or a favorite food list or whatever. The inside pages, front and back pages1-12 (3-16)will be their own version of the 12 days of Christmas. ‘The first day of Christmas mommy gave to me some candy with some ice cream’ and they can draw or decorate and you write the words for them if they can’t.

go through a lot of the 12 oz formula cans each month (like small tin coffee cans). Instead of just tossing them or putting them out for recycling, I’m saving them and looking for some creative or CRAFTY uses. I organize a preschool playgroup with 0-5 year olds and parents and was trying to think of how I could use these for a craft project. Otherwise, how could I make them into something for Christmas presents for friends/family – fill them with something cute and somehow decorate the outsides or something??

There is also an abundance of the plastic little scoops that come with each can as well which could somehow be incorporated…Are anyone else’s wheels turning enough to share some creative ideas with me?!

oh wow how fun. Lets see. the kids could use the scoops as shovels and let them put potting soil in a decorated can to plant something in them for their family. You could use a decorated can to keep the classroom organized. like on for colors and markers or glue sticks. you could also give each kid one to save coins to donate to charity. or decorated can for the kids with goodies for like holiday parties.

How to Make a Christmas Shadow Box

Use small ornaments and Christmas figures to make a Christmas scene, with shifting snow, in a shadow box. This would be a nice activity to do with your children – let them play with the figures until they create a pleasing arrangement, then help them to glue everything in place.

You Will Need shadow box – at least 1½ inches deep (available at craft stores or dollar stores) assorted Christmas figures and small decorations optional: alphabet blocks strong craft glue or glue gun and glue sticks crystal snow or fine artificial snow Project Instructions: Remove the back of the shadow box and set aside.

Collect an assortment of Christmas figures and decorations and, working from the back, start to play with different arrangements until you create a Christmas scene that you like when seen from the front. Begin gluing in the various pieces. If you’re using alpabet blocks, as we did, make sure they either sit firmly against the glass, or have enough clearance to prevent fake snow from getting trapped in front of them. Some possible short letter combinations for the alphabet blocks include NOEL, XMAS, SNOW, ANGEL or JOY.

Make sure all the pieces are glued in firmly; you don’t want them coming adrift after the shadow box is filled with snow and assembled. Let the glue dry. Add spoonfuls of fake snow to the bottom area. Run a line of glue around the edge of the back and set firmly into place.

Once the glue is dry, you can tilt the shadow box creating movable drifts of snow around the feet of the Christmas figures. or we pick up pine cones and painted themand put glitter on them to make ordaments!!

Bats. Paint toilet paper rolls black and glue wings on them and make a scary face. You can hang them with string.

Spiders. Paper machet small balloons. Use laundry starch and strips of news paper. After they dry you can paint them black and stick pipe cleaners in them for legs.

Ghost. Dip cheese cloth into laundry starch and gently ring out the extra. Drape it over a 2 liter soda bottle and let dry. Paint or glue felt for a face. Hang with string.
